U.S. to relinquish control of Internet

Internet regulator ICANN has announced that it has signed a new agreement with the Ministry of Trade, under which is an independent organization outside of government control, forward TechNews. BG. ICANN needs to provide detailed public reports on its activities at least once a year for its members. The U.S. government, however, will continue to participate in the corporation, as the Ministry of Commerce will receive one of the places in the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) of ICANN. GAC control over the activities of ICANN, giving different advice. The committee includes representatives from over 80 countries. ICAAN is a nonprofit organization based in California, which gives the names and addresses on the Internet. In his duties shall maintain the reliability and stability of the Internet, the coordination of technical management functions of Domain Name Servers (DNS) and others.

In 1998, ICANN signed an agreement with the U.S. government that the organization is subordinate to the Ministry of Trade. Agreement expired on 30 September this year, after the European Union has repeatedly stated that ICANN should be established as an independent organization.
